The latest RCMP report from the Macklin, Unity, and Wilkie departments had a number of serious issues between the three departments in the last week, the most serious of which dealt with a death in Macklin.

Our newsroom (which you can reach at news@westcentralonline.com) recieved an anonymous report concering the death in Macklin after rumours that the death had been a murder. According to the report and conversations with the RCMP afterwards, the death of the 53-year-old man was confirmed to have been non suspicious.

A serious charge was laid by the Unity RCMP after a domestic dispute resulted in charges of both Assault and Resist Peace Officer charges to a 50-year-old woman from the Tramping Lake area.

Also in the report from the Wilkie RCMP was a number of break and enters into multiple buildings and businesses. The RCMP recieved reports from Wilkie, Landis, and Biggar, but the culprit was found later that day in Edmonton. The 42-year-old male was found to be in possession of the stolen items in question.

There was one other report of vehicle damage in the Unity area, no relation to the above report was specified, and there was no evidence was found.

On a less serious note than the calls to service above, within a week there was four injured deer found near the highway. One near Primate was a collision between a vehicle and the deer along with another collision north of Macklin. A third fourth deer that was found just off of Highway 14 near Wilkie did not have it's injury witnessed and was reported to Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management. With snow on the ground, animals will likely be searching further for food and water, and on top of icy roads, it's important to pay extra close attention during the winter months.
