Provincial football wrapped up this past weekend with the provincial championships being held all over the province. This included the 1A six man championship held in Kerrobert that featured the Kerrobert Rebels and Eaton School Spartans in an all West Central battle.

Kerrobert started there first drive with a touchdown making it 8-0. Then Eatonia rolled down the field and scored one of there own and then another one making 12-8. The Rebels got momentum back with a score of there own. With 5 seconds left in the 1st half Kerrobert’s Kordell Murphy ran the ball in for the score. The score at half was 30-26 Eatonia.

The Rebels started with the ball and marched down the field and Quarterback Clark Snider ran the ball in for a touchdown. Making the score 34-30. The Rebels had momentum, but Eatonia soon took it back with a couple touchdowns of their own. After this the Rebels didn’t have enough to come back to win and the Spartans were victorious with a score 63-48.

It was a big upset for the team as the Kerrobert Rebels were unbeaten heading into the game which included 6-0 in regular season play and beating Viscount and Raymore in the playoffs to reach the provincial final. Eaton School had a little bit of a harder road to the provincial championship as they finished with a 4-2 record in the regular season and had to go to Hague and Southey before playing Kerrobert in the finals.
