Harvest is underway in some parts of the province. This is mainly happening in Saskatchewan's southeast but promises to creep north as soon as sunny skies appear again.

Cropping Management Specialist Grant McLean says ten per cent of the fall rye, eight per cent of the winter wheat and four per cent of the peas have already been combined in the southeast.

McLean explained that harvest should be starting soon for the West Central area as well. The crops advanced nicely with the warm weather we saw last week. He said that the barley crops may be the next to mature and producers are hoping to get as much crop off the field as they can in the month of August.

Most of the crop damage this past week was caused by hail, but some leaf diseases have been showing up aswell.
