The Town of Kerrobert announced Friday afternoon they will be the home to a new flagship wastewater treatment system – the first of its kind in Canada. Town Council entered into an agreement with Saskatchewan-based company Living Sky Water Solutions Corp. to begin the project in Kerrobert in the fall.

Its main purpose will offer the Town greater growth capacity at an affordable cost, and with a much smaller environmental footprint compared to traditional wastewater treatment methods. Living Sky’s system will be used along with existing lagoons in the area, and is designed to ensure the Town has enough capacity for years to come.

Town officials are excited this new project will help boost the current lagoon's infrastructure.

The project requires no chemicals, filters, or membranes. One of the main aspects of the system is it utilizes minimal power, and requires less operator expertise. This new wastewater treatment system will help treat wastewater in less than an hour for town residents.

The Saskatchewan company is known for investing significant resources to test its exclusive technology in Saskatchewan. Their technology is owned by Australian-based Micromet but Living Sky is the exclusive licensee for it in Canada.
