It was a milestone night for Kerrobert native Austin Shepherd back on Wednesday as he collected his first SJHL goal against the Estevan Bruins in a 7-4 win for the Melfort Mustangs.

Shepherd was credited with a goal earlier this season, but it was taken away after it was deemed he was not the last to touch the puck before it went in.

The 2005 born Kerrobert product now has nine points and 68 PIM in his first full season with Coach Trevor Blevins and the Mustangs.

Melfort also has a west central native on the bench helping, as Macklin's Tye Scherger is an assistant for Melfort.

Melfort will shift focus the Battlefords tonight, as they will be at the ACC in North Battleford for a 7:30 puck drop.

The Mustangs are currently in a dog fight with the the Stars for second in the SJHL, as they sit just one point behind them heading into tonight's action.
