In Kindersley as well as many West Central Saskatchewan communities, several firefighters volunteer their time working selflessly to protect citizens.
 
Numerous members of the Kindersley Fire Department have received well-deserved awards for their service.
 
Earlier this month the Kindersley Fire Department received the 2016 KBEX Lend a Hand award.
 
Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield recently presented Kindersley Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Soveran with the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal during a special awards presentation. Soveran was awarded for his 27 years of service to the province and citizens of Saskatchewan. Soveran has previously received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the Exemplary Service Medal.
 
During his 36 years with the Kindersley Fire Department, Fire Chief Ron Hope has received the following awards:
  • Fire Chief Award of Merit
  • Exemplary Service First Bar
  • Exemplary Services Medal
  • The Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal
  • The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
 
In his 30 years with the Kindersley Fire Department, Deputy Chief Rod Stevens has also been given the following medals:
  • Protective Services Medal
  • Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
Senior Captain David Burke has also earned the following awards during his 38 years with the Kindersley Fire Department:
  • Exemplary Service First Bar
  • Exemplary Services Medal
  • The Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal
  • The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
The Kindersley Fire Department is always looking for volunteers.  Anyone interested is encouraged to apply at the town office. The Kindersley Fire and Rescue Brigade has hired special trainers that do in house instruction.
