The following are highlights from Town Council meeting held at the Town Administrative Office on Monday, July 18th, 2016:

  • The meeting began with two delegations. The first delegation was presented by resident Lloyd Griffith expressing his concerns about the accuracy of the Town of Kindersley’s water meters and requested Council to waive a portion of his water bill. Council asked Griffith to wait until the next scheduled water reading is complete at the end of July before making a decision about his request.
  • The second delegation was from Kindersley Minor Ball representative Chad Miller requesting additional funds for the organization to maintain the Kindersley ball diamonds. Council members decided to give the request consideration and resurrect the topic of discussion for later in the meeting. Council resolved to provide Minor Ball its requested $7,600 funding to supplement the operational budget for the 2016 season. These funds will be allocated from the Recreation Reserve.
  • The new Traffic Bylaw (Bylaw 12-16) was given a final reading and adopted by Town Council. The Bylaw, which goes into effect immediately, now states helmet use is mandatory only for persons 14 years of age and under.
  • Council rescinded its first reading resolution of Bylaw 08-16, a bylaw to amend the Zoning Bylaw, in order for additional amendments to be added for Council’s review. Bylaw 08-16 will be brought back to Council for first reading in August and a public hearing will be held after that time.
  • Acting Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer entered into two agreements:

- An agreement in the amount of $25,394.95 for a new design of the Main Street traffic lights. This amount is comprised from a portion of the $225,000 tota budgeted for the project in the 2016 Budget.

- A maintenance agreement with Cimco Refrigeration in the amount of $17,275 for the provision of Cimco Certified Inspection Services for the Co-Op Arena, the Curling Rink, and the Events Centre Arena.

  • Council directed Administration to donate the amount of $945.00 for painting parking lot lines at the Kindersley Medical Arts parking lot.
  • Council repealed Bylaw 24-2000, a Bylaw to regulate the hours of the day in which a minor can be in a public place without adult supervision.
