The Holiday season is approaching and it is time to remember that not all children will know the joy of Christmas celebrations. There is a solution, however, and it is easy, shoe boxes. Operation Christmas Child follows a tradition that has been running for nearly three decades. The boxes travel by ship, plane, donkey or camels to have them brought to children.

These boxes can be packed with school supplies, such as small notebooks, crayons, pencils, pencil sharpeners, pens and a small ruler. Schools supplies should not be old or used, even lightly. Hygiene items are also accepted, such as toothbrushes, face cloths, a bar of soap and a plastic soap container, toothpaste is not permitted due to it being classified as food by government officials. Also, clothing items such as sunglasses, T- shirts ( plain colors, no logos or images), socks, flip flops and thin stretchy mitts. Toys such as marbles, skipping rope, jacks and a Frisbee.

Both Schools and Churches will be collecting these shoe boxes. Once they are collected, they are sent to Calgary where they will be checked to make sure nobody has attempted to sneak candy or food or any other kind of liquid into the box. They are then sealed and shipped.

Boxes will be collected and shipped on November 11th, so the boxes must be ready by then.
