An unusually wet year has reduced Canadian Wheat Board deliveries. Farm Business Rep Vic Schapansky says the rain soaked ground has made it difficult for many farmers to even access their bins.

Schapansky says that deliveries have really slowed in the period from May, June, and July. People are getting stuck in their own yards trying to get their grains in. This problem lies mainly in Saskatchewan although the problem is spread all across the prairies.

Farmers should contact their local Canadian Wheat Board rep to make alternate arrangements if wet conditions prevent delivery. A list is being compiled of all the farmers who are having trouble delivering grain and how much is still outstanding. The list will hopefully provide a better idea of the conditions. The CWB will be working with effected farmers with things such as contract adjustments.

The Canadian Wheat Board is encouraging farmers to deliver their accepted tonnage on all classes and grades of wheat and durum. However, the CWB does recognize that this isn't possible for some rain-soaked producers.
