Employees from all Crown corporations are back at work today as Crown Investments Corporation announced a tentative agreement yesterday with Unifor.

Six Crown corporations including SaskEnergy, SaskPower, SaskTel, Directwest, SecurTek and SaskWater, signed memoranda of agreement yesterday. Details surrounding the agreement will not be released until ratification has been completed by unionized employees at all Crown Corporations.

Earlier this month, the Water Security Agency (WSA), also came to a tentative agreement with Unifor Local 820. WSA owns and operates 72 dams and related water supply channels and represents Saskatchewan on transboundary water issues.

In the recent news release, Blair Swystun, president and CEO for Crown Investments Corporation, stated the agreements were reached due to the diligence and dedication of the teams who were determined to reach fair and beneficial terms for both the employees and corporations.

“On behalf of the leadership at each of the Crowns and CIC, thank you to the Crown bargaining teams and Unifor’s negotiators who have worked tirelessly to reach settlements.”

Employees from all seven Crowns will begin voting on the tentative deals over the next few weeks. Return to work schedules will begin Monday, October 21 at all Crowns. However, operations will take a few days to return to normal.
