The Kindersley Jr. Klippers made a couple of trades last week, shipping Jack Michell to the Nipawin Hawks for defenceman Josh Morton and a 4th round pick. The other trade saw Mark Snarr being shipped to Melfort for defenceman Brayden Koch and 2005 born prospect, and west central native, Karson Blanchette.

West Central Online caught up with the Unity born player, who is in his second season with the PA Mintos U18 AAA, and was excited when he heard the news of the trade.

"It was exciting. Ever since playing in West Central (for the U15 AA Wheat Kings), I've always kind of wanted to play for the Klippers so, it was really exciting when I heard the news," Blanchette said.

Blanchette also is enjoying his second season with the U18 AAA Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League. He feels the team is very strong and hopes for a long run this season.

"We got a great group of boys here. I think that we should make a run this season, it's a good team, good chemistry all around," Blanchette said.

After being drafted by both the Melfort Mustangs in the SJHL and the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, Blanchette was asked what it has been like since being drafted.

"It's been good, not much has changed really. I went to Seattle to camp this past August, that was a good experience. I went down there and got to play against some really good players," Blanchette added.

When news first broke of the trade he was contacted by his coach in Melfort, before receiving a phone call from Jr. Klippers head coach and GM, Ken Plaquin.

"Coach (Ken Plaquin) did call me that night and introduced himself, and welcomed me to the Klippers," Blanchette said.
