Today's media event with Premier Moe and Dr. Shahab the conversation focused on the province's expiration of the public health order in the next 5 days.

It was decided that the order is being extended until January 31st. This current public health order mandates masking in all indoor public areas, and proof of vaccination or negative test requirements are in place for public access to a list of establishments, businesses, and event venues.  The full list of current mandates that are now extended is available on the Saskatchewan website.

This means that restrictions will be in place over the Christmas holidays.

"If you look back one year ago today, virtually no one in our province was vaccinated. If you look at where we're at today, nearly 900,000 Saskatchewan residents have been vaccinated, so a markedly different situation in a markedly different baseline," Moe told the press on Thursday.

The restriction on what types of negative COVID-19 tests are accepted at venues requiring them is also still in effect as part of the public health order.  At the end of January, the public health order will be reassessed.

"It may be until the end of March ‘22. We will reassess as we get into the last few weeks of January," Moe said.
