After a loss Sunday to the Notre Dame Hounds, the Kindersley Jr. Klippers tried to get back in the win column Tuesday night against another divisional opponent in the Humboldt Broncos. While things started off good for the Klippers, they would be heavily outshot through the next two periods to lose 7-2.

Early in the game, Braiden Koran got called for a kneeing call after a collision with Jaxon Georget, and that was enough to give the Klippers a full four minute powerplay. The Klippers had scored on the powerplay in their last two games including on a four minute powerplay, and they look good on the man advantage with a couple of shots, but they couldn't get anything past Rayce Ramsay.

Shortly after the double minor had ended, the Klippers were given their third powerplay of the game after Alec Saretzky was nabbed on a tripping call in the Klippers zone, and again they had their chances but no goals. The penalties continued but this time Carson Baylis would give the Klippers their first penalty for tripping, but the Klippers penalty kill barely gave up anything and the powerplay ended without much for danger.

In the final minute of the period, Andrew Blocker made a pass out of the Klippers zone that sprung Matt Mazzocchi on a 2-on-1 with Aiden Bangs. Mazzocchi showed some great patience as he hugged the left wall around behind the net waiting for the defender to dive and for his passing lane to open, and once it did he fed Bangs for a onetimer that went in fivehole to give the Klippers the lead before the end of the period.

After 1: Klippers 1 - 0 Broncos, shots 9-7 Klippers

The second period was a different story. An early penalty for the Klippers would be killed after Blocker went to the box for tripping in the first minute, and while the Klippers didn't give up a goal they did give up momentum. Affiliate player Jakob Jones in his first SJHL game got the game's first goal for the Broncos after Sam Marburg made an unsuccessful attempt at a wraparound to Pesenti's left, and Jones scooped up the rebound and wrapped it around the opposite direction to score four minutes in.

Another penalty to the Klippers would get called on Aiden Bangs for hooking, and again the Klippers would kill it off but the wind was starting to come out of the Klippers sails by the end of the penalty. Pesenti had to make a number of great saves on the glove side, and one simply spectacular save on a onetimer in the slot where he kicked the pad out in the full splits to make the save.

The Broncos relentless pressure in the period continued as Alex Morozoff came down the left side of the ice and fired a hard wrist shot that beat Pesenti clean, hit the cross bar and dropped down from the opposite side of the ice to quickly give the Broncos the lead.

Before the end of the period, Chase Friedt-Mohr had been getting chirped all period by the Broncos and finally found a dance partner in Noah Barlage. The two dropped the gloves in a solid fight where both men landed a clean shot, but Friedt-Mohr got the takedown. Unfortuneately, the Klippers only dressed five defenceman in the game, meaning without Friedt-Mohr they were down to just four.

After 2: Klippers 1 - 2 Broncos, shots 24-9 Broncos in the period, 29-18 Broncos in the game

The third period started much the same as the last, heavy pressure from the Broncos that led to a goal around the four minute mark. This time it was on a 2-on-1 as Alec Saretsky brought the puck down the right side of the ice and the Klippers defender overcommitted, so Saretzky fed Matthew Perkins who had enough room to deke out Pesenti and score on the backhand.

Two minutes later, and the Broncos had another goal thanks to Samuel Marburg after a shot from Connor McGrath caused a scrum in front of the net and Marburg was able to tap it home, and another goal from the Broncos came two minutes later on the powerplay when Tyler Kutchinski got a cross-ice feed from Marburg for the onetimer after Max Kathol went to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Klippers would kill one more penalty in the period after a Brayden Koch holding call, but they'd give up another goal when Kutchinski scored his second of the period when Owen Evers took a shot that Kutchinski was able to tip in.

The Klippers got one final hurrah before the end of the game with Aiden Bangs scoring his second of the game, also assisted by Mazzocchi, but the Broncos wouldn't let that stand and Ethan Zielke scored on a weak shot that a very tired Matt Pesenti couldn't stop with his glove.

FINAL: Klippers 2 - 7 Broncos, shots 17-6 Broncos in the period, 41-23 Broncos in the game

Game Notes:

Despite giving up seven goals, Matt Pesenti still managed a 82.9% save percentage making 34 saves on 41 shots and it very well could have been worse without some of the saves he made during the game. Especially after facing 22 shots in the second period, Pesenti started to tired out in the early goings of the third as the Broncos managed their first nine shots in the first half of the period.

The Klippers are still going to be playing a little bit banged up for the next few games. Noah Lindsay may return to the lineup for the lone game this coming weekend on Friday against the Notre Dame Hounds, but it's not a guarantee.

The defence is where the Klippers are in need of bodies the most. Josh Pufahl will be out some time after a lower body injury at practice this week, and newly acquired defenceman Josh Morton will be out for a while as well after a lower body injury in his first game as a Klipper on Sunday.
