The annual crops are advancing but they are still behind normal development.

 

In regards to the hay crop, about 43 per cent has been cut and 21 per cent has been baled.

 

Cropping Management Specialist Grant McLean says the hay crop is still in pretty good condition.

 

Most farmers are currently busy haying, scouting fields and controlling crop diseases.

 

Producers have been struggling between the rain storms to get the crop off, making for a challenging year.

 

Most of the crop damage this past week has been caused by flooding but McLean notes that grasshoppers have been around as well.
