It seems that (despite the weather) the unofficial start to football season in Kerrobert back on Saturday was a blast for all in attendance:

It won't be long before the lights are shining down on the gridiron in Kerrobert. With the upcoming football season quickly approaching, the Kerrobert Football Association is prepared to "kickoff" the season in style. It all begins on September 16th and President of the KSA, Don Snell says its going to be an exciting night.

“It's going to be a big night. We're super excited. We've got a bunch of local vendors that are going to come out and join us in the field that night. We have our junior, senior and flag football teams coming out and playing that night as well. Macklin is coming to town so we’ll be playing them with those 3 teams and the senior game will be played under the lights.”

The lights have been lit for a while, but Snell says they haven't quite reached the finish line in terms of money raised.

"We're still working towards the goal of $100,000 for our lights project. Currently we’re at about $80,000 and we’re continuing to fundraise to reach our goal. Anyone wanting to donate and help us reach our goal can come out to our games and support our local booths and you can also donate online."

Before the season officially gets underway, there is another event planned this weekend, set for today as Snell explained.

"We do also have a senior football jamboree this weekend. We've got six teams coming to town, so seven teams will be playing throughout the day, so it'll be another exciting day on the football field."

An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place prior to the games on September 16th.
