The Town of Biggar has put a ton of work into renovating their downtown core, and their municipal government's efforts are being recognized in the form of an award.

The 'Biggar Revitalization Project' came in second place at the 16th Annual Saskatchewan Municipal Awards, an event held to celebrate the excellent and innovative practices of Saskatchewan’s municipal governments.

"(The Town of Biggar) Developed a four-phase plan, with community input and partnerships, to revitalize Biggar’s Main Street," stated the release.

Four different projects were named coming out of eight municipalities. A solar project out of the Town of Lumsden took the top spot, and then the RM of Edenwold's Women in Government Program finished in third. The Regional Cooperation spot this year went to P4G Planning District  through the RM of Corman Park, Town of Osler, and their surrounding cities.

Representatives from Biggar along with the rest of the winners will be highlighted in ceremonies at the upcoming SARM and SUMA Conventions.
