Bison is making a comeback.

The original red meat of the prairies. These animals are quite literally made for Saskatchewan weather. Their movement across the prairies can't be stopped by a fence.

Bison owners have fencing guidleines to follow. The most common place for them to escape is through an open gate. They'll return to the exact same place that they escaped from, if you don't approach, chase or yell at them.

If you witness a bison outside of an enclosure, contact your nearest rancher, local authorities or the Sask Bison Authority. 306-585-6304

  1. Calling the owner is always the best thing to do. Make note of your location.
  2. Do not get out of your vehicle. Bison can be very fast and powerful. If they feel threatened it's possible that they would charge at you!
  3. If you decide to stay in place, put on your 4 way flashers.
  4. Don't close any gates. Unless it's obvious that more animals are getting out, you shouldn't touch anything.
