New Stats Canada numbers paint an unflattering picture of our country's economy.

129,000 Canadian jobs have disappeared in the last month and the national unemployment rate has soared to 7.2%.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan might not be an island but our numbers are significantly stronger.

The province's unemployment rate from December to January went from 4.2% to 4.1%. Compared to one year ago there are 16,600 more people working in Saskatchewan.
