It’s not just pre-season for the Delisle Chiefs players and coaching staff.

Fans also got a chance to knock off the rust as the Chiefs welcomed in their fans for the first time in about a year for two games this past weekend, as Delisle took on Saskatoon on Saturday, and Fort Knox on Sunday.

First off against the Royals on Saturday the Chiefs would take a 6-4 decision. Chad Westman and Kyle Heintz scored opening period goals for Delisle before the game would go 4-3 into the third, and eventually end up in a 6-4 final for the Chiefs. Luke Dyer would score in the third for his 2nd goal of the game, along with Ashton Harris and Adam Horner finding the back of the net as well.

Delisle didn’t enjoy the same early success that they did on Saturday come Sunday against Fort Knox, as the Chiefs were down one after one. Troy Joyce and Morgan Glowa would score to make it a 2-2 game headed into the third, and then a game winner from Troy Kosmynka would hand the Chiefs a 3-2 win to close out their exhibition schedule.

Two of the Chiefs’ three match-ups this pre-season came against their rivals in the Saskatoon Royals. Saturday, October 2nd is the date for the rematch and season opener, with puck drop set for 7:30 at the Delisle Centennial Arena.
