One of the west central born Western Hockey League players, and veteran Cade Hayes, will be lacing it up outside of the province from now on after being traded on Monday from Moose Jaw to Spokane.

The Chiefs swapped a 20 year old forward for Hayes, who was having the best season of his career so far with the Warriors, as he already set career highs in points with 19, and assists with 14 through just 35 games played, and according to the trade release his move comes during a current hot streak as he had points in five of his last eight games (1G-5A).

“The Warriors would like to thank Cade Hayes for everything that he has done for our organization and our community.  We wish Cade the best of luck with Spokane,” said Moose Jaw General Manager Jason Ripplinger.

The Chiefs believe they are getting an experienced two-way forward who will slot into the lineup nicely according to Chiefs General Manager Scott Carter.

Hayes has played 101 career WHL games with Moose Jaw after being an eighth round pick by the Warriors back in 2017. He has 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points over his career, and will look to impress the rest of the season as he moves south of the border.
