The Town of Eston has a new contest for its residents - one which coincides with the 100 years celebration and what it means to spend a day in the life of an Eston resident. The Centennial Photo Contest is open to all residents of Eston and surrounding area, and participants have to submit a photo which represents "a day in the life" of an Eston resident.

Eston's economic development officer Jody Schmidt emphasized how the photo can represent a memory, a moment, or an experience as well. "It's to capture the beauty of Eston and district," said Schmidt, describing the meaning behind the contest.

Participants have until Monday, June 20th to submit their photos for the contest, and can enter a maximum of five photos. The judging process will be determined by people's choice over the July long weekend; the photos will be on display at the hall in the Community Complex with ballots, and residents will be eligible to enter in one vote for their choice of the best photo.

"There's one grand prize winner, and it's going to be $350 Eston bucks to spend in Eston," explained Schmidt. "We definitely want to promote business, and that's why we want the grand prize to be spent locally on our businesses in town."

Photo participants can submit their photo entries by email at jody@eston.ca.
