Keep it Coming 2016 is the First Step Towards Maintaining and Procuring a Stable Canola Economy in Canada.

The federal government is partnering with three provincial canola grower organizations to jointly fund a new agronomic research-based project.
The primary focus of the project will be looking towards sustainability and profitability regarding increased canola production in Canada.

The strategic plan, Keep It Coming has Patti Miller, president of the Canola Council of Canada, excited.
The plan will eventually determine what canola management practices will be best used to increase profitability, and bring the visualization of 52 bushels per acre in to a reality by 2025.

Agricultural Minister, Lawrence MacAulay made the funding announcement on Thursday.

A cornerstone investment partner is Agriculture and Agri-food Canada's Agri-Science Project.

Over 980 thousand dollars in federal funding is being invested along with joint contributions from the Manitoba Growers Association, Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission, and the Alberta Canola Producers Commission.

There is going to be an estimated investment of almost 2 million dollars in to the project over the next five years.

Program management will be overseen by the CCC and is hoping to bring research in to several priority areas, including how canola research could be enhanced, research in to the handling of disease, stand management and pollinator health.

Crop concerns not typically addressed by the private industry will also be investigated; such issues are thought to play a pivotal role in increasing the annually canola yield and quality.
