Having a firepit in your yard can be a treat on clear nights but residents must make sure to abide by the rules and regulations of having one.

Bylaw Enforcement Officer for the town of Kindersley, Janelle Graham explains that if you are planning to build a fire pit within town limits, you must make sure that it is far away from combustable objects such as buildings.  The pit must also be at least three metres away from your property line.  Some sizes of fire pit must be covered with a non-combustable metal screen.

If a complaint comes in to the town about unsafe fire pits, the town will team up with the Kindersley Fire Department to inspect the pit and hand out any necessary fines or warnings.
