Saskatchewan residents over the age of sixteen require an angling licence to go fishing. Saskatchewan's senior residents no longer require an angling licence, just proof of their age.

Anglers should also remember that there are fishing limits on specific bodies of water, depending on the pressure on the lake. The limits may alter each year as well. There is also a provincial limit on different bodies of water.

Brett Diemert also recommends knowing where you are going and ensuring you have an angling guide that is free of charge at the conservation office in Kindersley. The guide includes a summary of the fishing regulations as well as dates and limits on specific bodies of water.

Anglers should also ensure they have the correct safety equipment in their boat as well.
