That one tweet from the Eston Ramblers on Monday was all that was needed for this weekend's west central senior hockey home-and-home series to see increased stakes for the players on the ice, and create more excitement for the fans in the stands.

Rosetown Redwings supporters are well aware of the current fundraising effort by longtime player Jared Jagow and Athlete's Haven in Rosetown, that will see every goal he scores turn into a $13 donation to the Gasper Family Foundation. The #GoalsForGaspers campaign has seen tons of early support from local people and businesses to match donations, a list that includes the local Central Plains Co-op. Thanks to the matching donations, every goal now provides $52 into the #GoalsForGaspers fund, and another longtime player in Jordan Johnston is also stepping up his game for the cause.

The Redwings first opportunity to raise some funds came last weekend during their season opener against the Kenaston Blizzards. Jagow scored once and joined in with assists on the rest of the team's scoring in an 11-4 loss. The first night of fundraising in Rosetown definitely could have gone better, but Redwings fans were just happy to be back watching some senior hockey action.

Back to the games set for this weekend between Rosetown and Eston, the Redwings responded to the Ramblers question with a reminder that their goalie might want to watch out for a big performance from their lead man in Jagow. The Ramblers didn't seem too worried about the proposition of Jagow coming in with the intent to score, as they proposed a wager of their own towards the good cause.

The inspiration behind the original $13 donation number is Jagow's #13, so the Ramblers decided to put their own lucky number on the line with a $13 #GoalsForGaspers donation for every point Andrew Dommett collects this weekend against Rosetown.

Let's just say the Redwings were more than happy to accept the terms, with the local co-op supporting the fun as well.

With the series approaching and excitement building, even more donations were confirmed by a pair of local alumni goaltenders that are committed to a $3 donation for every save made over the weekend. Perhaps they are trying to throw their name in the hat for an EBUG spot this season; but it's most likely for the great cause.

The first game between these two is set for tonight at 8:00 pm in Rosetown, and then Saturday again at 8:00 pm in Eston. The Ramblers are planning to wear special edition Remembrance Day jerseys on Saturday night, to cap off the fun series and a great weekend of SVHL hockey.
