Earlier this week, a release came in as the Saskatchewan Party government introduced a Motion to defend lawfully licensed firearms owners in Saskatchewan against the most recent attack by the Liberal/NDP coalition federal government.

This quote from Christine Tell, Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety for Saskatchewan was released last Thursday.

"The rifles and shotguns that law-abiding Saskatchewan farmers, hunters, and sport shooters use will soon be confiscated by the Trudeau - NDP government. These men and women will be criminalized overnight. Saskatchewan will not stand idly by while the federal government yet again attacks law-abiding citizens instead of focusing on crime."

MLAs discussed this motion back on Monday night, and comments from Kindersley representative Ken Francis were included in our newscast as he talked about how taking illegal guns out of the hands of criminals is a good idea, but the overall problem is criminalizing, seizing, and destroying property of law-abiding firearms owners of this province does nothing to solve the supposed root problem.

"Bill C-21 and its amendment proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Primer Minister Trudeau and his coalition government do not understand rural Saskatchewan, nor do they care to”, stated MLA for Yorkton Greg Ottenbreit through the emailed release.

Recent amendments made to Bill C-21 further confirm the federal government has no respect for law-abiding firearm owners in Saskatchewan, and that they are focused on pushing through their misguided ideological agenda cloaked in the guise of public safety, without actually addressing criminal activity or making communities safer.

It is being estimated that this change to Bill C-21 will instantly affect 75,000 Saskatchewan residents, essentially making them criminals for possessing firearms they legally acquired. We are committed to defending the rights of the people of Saskatchewan now and in the future.
