Little ladies placing silver at the West Central events Centre

The rinks received a flurry of activity this weekend, with hockey and skating all around West Central Saskatchewan.

The Annual Jean Norman Skating Competition wrapped up at 8:30 p.m. last night with a number of skaters winning medals for their talents.

There were a number of event categories, including prejuvenile and juvenile free-skate.  

Prenovice free-skate and novice for men and senior men.

There was also a senior bronze women's free-skate and a senior silver women's free-skate and a junior silver women-free skate.

The Co-op Arena held a star 3 and star 5 jump and spin events and a solo pattern dance events were held for all numbers of skill groups.

20 trade show vendors were also selling their wares, including jewelry, food, wood-working, hair accessories and bags.

In the Sask Valley Hockey League, The Delisle Bruins took the victory over the Eston Ramblers last night in a score of 6-2 at the Delisle Arena.

But that's not the end of the battle; the two teams are facing each other tonight at the Eston Arena.

The showdown starts at 8 p.m.

The Beechy Bombers are also set to face the Kyle Elks tonight at the Beechy Arena.

The puck drops at 5 p.m.

In the Sask West Hockey League, The Wilkie Outlaws won against the hosting Macklin Mohawks last night in a score of 8-2.

But the Mohawks have a chance to redeem themselves; they are set to face the Outlaws once more to grab a victory as the season draws closer to the finish.

And the Rosetown Mixed Curling Event finishes up today at the Rosetown Arena.  

Saturday saw victories for Maple Creek in the A event, winning over Hodgeville in a score of 8-3.

Both Maple Creek and Hodgeville will advance to the provincial finals happening in Meadow Lake on March 4 and 5.
