Many residents around Kerrobert were saddened by the passing of a longstanding member of the community Joseph Dubielewicz on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the age of 82.

West Central Online shared a story earlier in February about Dubielewicz's passing, as the Kerrobert & District Wildlife Federation held their annual supper and awards on the day of his passing. There were moose meatballs and more at the event, but not one of the group's longest serving members as Dubielewicz wasn't the only notable absence during the evening.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 was another group in Kerrobert that was saddened to share Dubielewicz's passing. They recently released a statement on the dedicated member of 45 years who received his life membership back in 2006. Dubielewicz served as President of the group for 20 years, only stepping down in December 2022. Other roles he held were secretary, 1st vice, Sgt.-at-arms and membership chairperson.

The release detailed how Dubielewicz was also quite the decorated member.

"In 2017, (Joe) was nominated for the Canada 150 Medal to honour outstanding contributions to both his community and country. There were also many commemorative pins that he received along the way."

Dubielewicz enjoyed the camaraderie along the way in all of the local organizations he was a part of, regularly attending Zone and District rallies with the Legion. He was always a willing volunteer for different events around the community.

As with his buddies at the Kerrobert Wildlife Federation, the Legion is remembering Dubielewicz as someone who would always be the first one to show up, and make sure to be the last one out to get the lights off. Those things included, the Legion lost an irreplaceable member.

"We will miss you Joe. Condolences to wife Judy and their family. Lest We Forget."
