The sports scene is going to be shining a little brighter in Kerrobert this year. The local Friday Night Lights Project is off and running, with hopes of turning on the lights for the first football game of the season this fall.

With a goal of raising enough money to complete the project, Don Snell, President of the Kerrobert Football Association says they’re well on their way to that goal.

“Our project is going really well. To date we've received and raised $75,000 to our $110,000 goal. We’ve got several sponsors. We’ve got 3 platinum sponsors; we’ve had 15 companies take part in our buy a light sponsorship program. We’ve also got 14 silver sponsors, which is $500 and above and as well, we’ve had many Friends with the Field come in, so that’s $20 and above.”

An alumni challenge is also in place by Snell to have Kerrobert Football alumni help out any way they can.

Aside from the sponsor donations, Snell detailed other ways the program plans to raise money.

“June 3rd our committee is going to be hosting a barbecue at our Kerrobert school track and field day. We’ve got other barbeques planned for many of the football games this fall, and more events are being planned as we speak.”

Snell mentioned the project was been smooth sailing so far and is thrilled by the contributions from all sides.

“We’ve been very successful. We haven’t had any challenges to date. So far everything has went really well with the project and we’re very grateful to everybody who’s been able to donate time, material, equipment and of course these great donations.”

The plan is to have everything in place by the end of August.
