West Central Online recently checked in with president of the Kindersley and District Food Bank Linda Resch to see how the food bank is faring early into 2023.

Coming off a bountiful year in 2022, Resch shared some amazing totals when it comes to the number of people helped, and how many donations they received over the calendar year.

"1725 clients. We gave out 100,000 pounds of food, and we had 958 hampers," said Resch, as even she has trouble putting their tremendous work into perspective, "It's kind of an eye opener actually. We pack every month, but you don't realize how much food you are actually giving out. The 100,000 pounds of food was kind of like, wow."

Even with all of the donations, there is some filler work to be done between the shelves at the local food bank. Luckily, monetary donations help bridge the gap.

"I think people are giving more money than donating. Which is good for us because we can buy what we need."

Some of the key items they are always looking for are juice, canned fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, and cereal.

"We seem to be always short on them, but that's our key ones that we seem to be missing so we just go out and buy them."

The food bank is always seeking donations along with volunteer help, and you can follow along with their activity on Facebook.
