The Kindersley Red Lions Senior hockey team is set to open their season on the road when they take on the Luseland, Dodsland Mallards.

Last year the Red Lions had an overall record of two and one against the Mallards. The Lions made it all the way to the Sask West Hockey League Final where they lost in five games to the Wilkie Outlaws.

Larry Wintoneak,  head coach for Kindersley says he always enjoys playing Luseland and expects a fast, exciting game.

"Well I think they've added some bodies, pretty good hockey players coming from Macklin. You know, I've always liked their team, they work hard, they're young, you know, they always push us. The pace is great. You know, I think that the first game you gotta get the jitters out and kinda get the rust off. I guess you can practice all you want until you get into a game situation, both teams will have to do that; but you know I expect a fast paced game."

Puck drop is in Luseland at 8:30PM. You can catch the game call with Colton Swiderski on 1330, 1210 Classic Hits.
