Town Council held their bi-weekly meeting on the evening of Monday, September 26th to finish off the month.

Two delegations were presented to begin the session; one from Friends of Kinsmen Park and the other from Kindersley Minor Ball.

Friends of Kinsmen Park (FOKP) were represented by Elyse Moss and Tammy Anderson-Jackson for their delegation, and presented an update on their plan moving forward to town council. Their presentation focused on asking for support from council for renovating the park's outdoor rink as well.

The second delegation was presented by Kindersley Minor Ball President Chad Miller. He provided an update to council on the organization's progress from this past baseball season, along with the group's hopes moving forward. Miller elaborated on the committee's plan to boost profits for the ball diamonds and equipment by making advertising a possibility at the diamonds for local businesses.

Council proceeded with their other items on the agenda after the delegations were completed. The following are highlights from those discussion topics:

  • Council entered into an agreement for two purchases: a CAT 430F2 LRC backhoe at the tender amount of $87,700 plus applicable taxes, and a 2016 Bobcat S570 for the tender amount of $25,269 plus applicable taxes.
  • A decision was made to create a resolution for the replacement of the Main Street traffic lights as negotiations continue. Council will revive the discussion at the next meeting on October 11th.
  • An amendment was adopted for the town's harassment policy linked to human resources. Council added how government at the provincial level amends the definition of 'harassment' to align with Occupational Health and Safety documentation. Furthermore, Councillor Janzen mentioned how a provincial officer is willing to visit Kindersley to speak on harrassment. Janzen and the rest of council agreed it would be a great opportunity for the residents.
  • Bylaw 15-16 was discussed once again by council with the hope of the Transportation Committee revisiting the bylaw to engage in talks with permit fees. The purpose of bylaw 15-16 is to create clarification for the public.
