It wasn't the greatest win, it wasn't the worst one, but the Kindersley Jr. A Klippers were able to get their second win of the season after spoiling the season opener for the Melville Millionaires with a 4-2 win.

The Klippers have had a habit of starting games slowly, and that again reared it's ugly head. The Klippers managed just a single shot through the first five minutes of the period while Melville racked up seven. Part of that came from the fact that the Klippers other issue, penalties, also started the game when Max Kathol was called on a high stick in the second minute.

On a powerplay of their own, the Klippers started to pick up the pace and managed a few shots on the backend, and the period started to even out. On a second penalty, the Klippers even managed a shorthanded breakaway attempt, but still the Millionaires struck first.

Even strength, the Klippers in their own zone were scrambling to get it out and Charles Obobaifo swung at a loose puck to try and send it to centre. Instead, his swipe was picked off by Nicholas Andrusiak who then shot at the net through traffic. The rebound kicked out to the middle, and Rylan Bruns put the puck in to score both his first in the SJHL and the first of the season for the Millionaires with just over six minutes left in the period.

After 1: Klippers 0 - 1 Millionaires, shots 11-7 Millionaires

The second period started off much better for the Klippers. Early on a 2-on-1, Tylin Hillbig brought the puck down the right side of the ice and fired a hard wrist shot home for his first goal of the season and his fourth point, assists to Aiden Bangs and Matt Mazzocchi just 77 seconds into the period.

That would stand as the lone goal of the period but both teams came close. The Millionaires put one in off a high stick, but at the other end of the ice a shot squirted through the seam between Keaton French's glove arm and his body, and the puck slowly rolled towards the net. Nicholas Andrusiak saved the goal by diving across the crease and swiping the puck off the goal line with his stick in without a doubt the save of the game.

The Millionaires gave up a powerplay opportunity, the Klippers gave up three, but neither team could find the back of the net with the extra man.

After 2: Klippers 1 - 1 Millionaires, shots 24-17 Millionaires

The third period started much the same as the second. Just 70 seconds went by this time before Max Kathol got the puck down the left side of the ice on a tightly checked 3-on-2. He sent his pass into the middle and Noah Lindsay as he was falling managed to get his stick on the puck and put in a quick wrist shot from the left to give the Klippers the lead.

10 minutes later and shortly after another Millionaires powerplay, they tied the game up again when Brett Fogg sent the puck high into the air from his own zone and dropped it on Noah Wills' stick. Wills stopped up in the corner and outwaited a diving poke check from Ethan Hillbig before passing the puck in front to Jake Spak who tipped home the tying goal.

Then the hockey Gods smiled down on the Klippers. With four minutes left to go, Ethan Mack got the puck in the corner of the offensive zone after intercepting a pass from behind the net while goaltender was out of his crease. He quickly sent it in front and it hit the stick of Millionaires centre Carter McKay and went into the open net to give the Klippers the lead and Mack's third goal of the season.

After that, the Millionaires would pull French for the extra attacker, but it didn't last long thanks to a great breakout pass from Tylin Hillbig sent Matt Mazzocchi in alone on the empty net to seal the deal.

FINAL: Klippers 4 - 2 Millionaires, shots 34-28 Millionaires

The next action for the Klippers sees them in the SJHL showcase against the Flin Flon Bombers.
