A local business owner has pled guilty to the charge of non-compliance with the provincial public health order after failing to screen visitors for proof of vaccination or a negative test.

Scott’s Fine Foods, in Leader, received the ticket back in October of 2021, after the Saskatchewan Government implemented new public health orders to combat the spread of COVID-19.

After initially pleading not guilty, a trial for the matter was scheduled to take place on November 17.

The need for a trial was eliminated, however, when the business had a change of heart and entered a guilty plea on November 17, before the trial was due to begin.

Originally, the restaurant was facing a fine of $14,000 however, after agreeing to plead guilty, they are now facing a lesser fine of $3,000.
