Canola Producers will have a chance this week to learn more about the crop and the market heading into another production year.

Sask Canola is holding a series of meetings this week around the province in Melfort, Humboldt, Rosetown, Swift Current and North Battleford.

This years theme is Learning from 2012, Preparing for 2013.

"We have the insect update, and we'll have disease updates built in the day, and the market outlook," said Research Manager Pat Flaten, "we have Marlene Borsch coming to give the market outlook, and she always covers all the crops in the season."

Flaten added there will be lots of opportunities to learn more about the canola crop at the meetings.

"Chris Holzapfel from the Indian Head Ag Research Foundation will give us an update, he's done a lot of great work on straight-cutting canola, if you want to do it, how can you reduce your risk on that, and then also for those newcomers to canola particularily, getting the hang of staging the swathing operation."

Rosetown's Canola Day meeting is set Thursday at the Elks Hall - Pre-register online or by calling Sask Canola, registration is $20 and includes your lunch.
