Western Canada's best U15 AA hockey players are in Regina this weekend, and the West Central Wheat Kings are part of the field.
The Wheat Kings are playing in the Graham Tuer U15 Challenge, a 32-team tournament that typically sees WHL scouts in the stands searching out the next wave of talent. West Central played two games on Thursday, dropping the tournament's opening game to the Saskatoon Stallions 7-2, and then securing a 5-5 tie against the Warman Wildcats. The final round robin matchup has the Wheat Kings taking on the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds at 12:50.
Cruz Loehndorf leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists in the first two games. Five other players have found the back of the net for West Central, and goalies Emeri Cowie and Carson Fortin split the first two games in net.
Each team began on Thursday, with the action set to wrap up by Sunday night.
