This past weekend represented the final stage of the season for senior girls volleyball teams around the province.
Teams like the Unity Warriors and Macklin Sabres have been battling it out to get on the SHSAA Provincials stage all-year-long. Unity competed at 3A Provincials in Indian Head and Wolseley, while Macklin was part of the 2A bracket playing in Turtleford and St.Walburg.
Macklin put up a fight looking at the 2A bracket, but the competition was just too stiff. The Sabres finished the round robin stage at 2-2, placing them in a 1v4 elimination game against Rocanville. That game finished in straight sets as Rocanville moved on to the semi-final against Langham, who upset the higher seeded team from Wakaw in another quarter-final.
Rocanville couldn't get it done in the finals as Davidson finished as champions, and Langham won the third place game.

In 3A, Unity finished 1-3 in the pool stage, putting them as the fourth seed entering the elimination bracket. They would take on Lanigan in the 1v4 matchup, a team they know well after losing out to them the week before in Regionals. Lanigan took that game in straight sets, but the Warriors shouldn't feel bad as Lanigan wouldn't lose another set on their way to provincial goal.
Carnduff and Kipling met in the bronze medal matchup.

Congratulations goes out to the local teams for their SHSAA provincial runs. The high-school volleyball season isn't over yet, however, as boys provincials are set for this weekend. After that it will finally be time to put the sliders away for another season.
