Provost, Alberta will be the place to be this weekend for fans of fast-paced, motorized fun. The Provost Kinsmen Splash and Smash is taking control of the town this weekend, and it is sure to be a fun time for everyone planning on attending. The weekend features all kinds of racers including monster trucks, street stock, mud racing, and much more.

"We like to say we're rural Alberta's largest monster truck show," said Richard Dieser, one of the main organizers for the fun-filled weekend. "When it comes to motor sports, we definitely have things going on this weekend." This year's installment of the Splash and Smash is attracting faster, more powerful racers which have not raced in Provost in a couple years or ever.

It is considered one of the biggest events in the area for entertainment events. The day is marked on many people's calendars, and is sure to attract a large number of fans to a town with a population of approximately 2,500. "We expect throughout the weekend up to 3,000 people through the gate," explained Dieser, speaking on the popularity of the event. "We try to keep it very affordable, and make it a family event."

Besides the riveting racing expected throughout the weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy rides and concessions from the West Coast Amusements Midway. Not to mention there will be fireworks, a pancake breakfast, town BBQ, and parade. Overall, the weekend is a huge component of the summer to residents of Provost and guests travelling for the weekend's festivities. It takes commitment from the community to run the show, and Dieser is completely thankful for all the help involved in the Splash and Smash events.

"It's just a great community event, and I would like to thank everybody," said Dieser.

The racing and other events will take place at the Provost Fairgrounds.
