The Klippers returned to home ice last night to face the Melfort Mustangs for the 4th time in three weeks.

The game started well for the Klippers as Scott Linnell got them on the board 7 minutes in with his 2nd goal since returning to the Klipper lineup.  The Mustangs would tie it up 2 minutes later only for Brett Leedahl to give the Klippers the lead before the end of the 1st.

In the 2nd frame the Mustangs would tie things at two heading into the 3rd.  With just 4 minutes left on the clock Melfort would take the one goal lead to set up a wild finnish.  With just 10 seconds remaining and a mad scramble in front, the Klippers Kendall Holmes put in the tying goal to send it to overtime.

OT would solve nothing as the game headed to the shootout where the goalies would take centre stage.  Ryan Nieszner of the Klippers and David Tetrault of the Mustangs each allowed an early shootout goal but then stoned 3 consecutive shooters each before the Mustangs were able to put the winner past Nieszner.

The Klippers gained one point in the win to extend their lead on Yorkton to a pair.  Next up, the Klippers end the month of January on Saturday when they host the Nipawin Hawks.  Game time is 7 o'clock at the West Central Events Centre.
