The U18 Kyote Energy Klippers lost in the B-final of their home tournament over the weekend.

After a loss on the opening day, the action continued on Saturday as the Klippers won by a score of 7-1 at their 8:30 am game. After that however they fell short in a nail biter game 4-3 sending them into the B-Final against the Olds Grizzlys.

The story of the weekend for the U18 Klippers however, was one of their goaltenders Kaden Elliott getting the call to the SJHL Jr. Klippers bench in an emergency role due to an injury to Logan Falk.

Not only did Elliott get to make a memory of a lifetime taking the ice for warmup with his hometown junior team, of course his only SJHL appearance came on Teddy Bear Toss night as he got into the cleanup (pictured above).

West Central Online spoke with Elliott following the whirlwind of a night.

"They looked around and couldn't find anybody, and then coach gave me a call on Friday night saying there was a chance I might be the backup for the Klippers the next night. I got the news on Saturday that I would be."

It might not be as exciting as a Zamboni driver beating the Maple Leafs, but the emergency appearance was certainly a fun aspect of the game. Getting the third star of the game for his flawless door work, Elliott talked about his experience on the night.

"All of the guys and girls from my grade, all my friends were there. Parents, coaches, it was nice seeing them all there and enjoying it. Chanting my name and all that."

With exams approaching, Elliott will likely need to stay in school and have the Klippers look for a backup for their upcoming road trip.
