The Wilkie Outlaws took a 2-0 series lead against the Macklin Mohawks last night on the road. Wilkie won the opener in dominating fashion with a 9-2 victory Friday night at home. The Mohawks did play a tighter game Sunday night, but are now on the brink after a tight 4-3 OT loss.

Game 1 saw Ryan Keller have a big night for the Outlaws, scoring a hat trick and adding three assists. SWHL leading scorer Brock Harrison had two goals and two assists on the night while SWHL defenseman of the year Derek Keller also chipped in with four assists.

Game 2 in Macklin saw the Mohawks use their home ice advantage to jump out to an early lead, but the Outlaws evened it quickly for a tied score after one period. After that Wilkie jumped out to a 3-1 lead, though a Macklin goal on the powerplay would make it 3-2 headed into the third. The Mohawks chipped away all period long until Jared Hillis eventually evened it up, but it only took 30 seconds of extra time for the Outlaws to win it as Rick Cey picked up the winner off the stick of Ryan Keller.

Game 3 will go on Friday night at 8:30 in Wilkie as the Mohawks need a win to stay alive, though the Outlaws will be motivated for the sweep after falling to Macklin in 4 games last season.
