Delisle recently celebrated on Friday, May 27 the ceremonial opening of its spray park, which will provide countless recreational opportunities for the community just in time for the summer.

Construction on the project near 300 Fourth St. W. began in the spring of 2021. This new facility includes such features as: a 2,600 square foot splash pad with about an additional 8,000 square foot green space with benches and more picnic tables to be installed in the future, along with associated works. The completed infrastructure will be owned and operated by the Town of Delisle.

Under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Government of Canada is contributing up to $123,930 toward the project and the Government of Saskatchewan is contributing up to $103,265. The remaining costs of the project will be covered by the Delisle Spray Park Committee’s fund-raising efforts. The Town of Delisle has donated the land for the facility and supported necessary utility moves.

“I am pleased to celebrate the grand opening of the Delisle Splash Park. Ensuring residents have access to recreational infrastructure is vital for community wellbeing and development. This splash park is a much-needed green space and recreation centre for the community. Our government is committed to working with our partners to build a better quality of life for all Canadians,” said the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities.

“Our provincial government is proud to invest more than $100,000 toward this important community and recreation project for Delisle residents and visitors alike. Congratulations to everyone who played a role in helping this spray park become a reality. You’ve just made Delisle summers even brighter and Saskatchewan even stronger, thanks to your hard work, determination and community spirit,” said the Honourable Jim Reiter, Minister of SaskBuilds and Procurement and MLA for Rosetown-Elrose, on behalf of the Honourable Don McMorris, Minister of Government Relations.

“Thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan, the Town of Delisle, financial donors, local businesses, dedicated volunteers and the Delisle Splash Park Committee, we now have a beautiful facility, which will provide recreational opportunities and a wonderful gathering place for years to come. This project was only possible thanks to many wonderful people working toward a common goal to make our community a better place,” said Her Worship Cary Brunett, Mayor of the Town of Delisle.
