Remembrance Day has come and gone and while each community honoured the veterans who sacrificed so much for us in different ways, the town of Kindersley and the Kindersley Legion put together a beautiful service in a short outdoor service. President of the Kindersley Legion Roger Strutt spoke during the ceremony and started off talking about the phrase 'Lest We Forget', and the importance of the first of those three words.

"Somebody asked me and of course you go 'well, I know what that is' and then I stumbled around and I was stumbling trying to find a definition. Once I read it and you realize we don't want it happening, we're trying to prevent people from forgetting the fallen, and so that struck a chord with me."

Lest is defined as, 'with the intention of preventing (something undesirable); to avoid the risk of' according to Oxford Dictionary.

Overall, the service Thursday afternoon was short and cold, but the service was well attended outside with people spread out around Baker Park in Kindersley. With the current regulations in place by the province, the Legion thought it was best to keep the gathering outdoors to a large crowd.

"The weather is much different than last year when we were in the middle of a partial blizzard, but yes it's great to see the number of people that were out to support it and honour the fallen."

A total of 93 men and women from the Kindersley district were lost on the field of battle during the two World Wars.
