It has been a record-setting year for Saskatchewan’s provincial parks. The provincial government reported there have been more than 1 million visits to the parks this year, and more than 400,000 camping nights. This breaks records set in 2020 and 2016, respectively.

“With residents staying close to home this past year, we’ve seen a number of new visitors exploring our parks in addition to many returning visitors,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. “We are pleased that more people are taking advantage of the recreational opportunities we have right here in our own province, and discovering all that our beautiful parks have to offer.”

A number of camps are still open and will have winter events such as Christmas tree cutting in Cypress Hills, Skate the Park at Echo Valley and snowshoeing, tobogganing and hiking at other parks. As well, this year winter camping will be offered at a number of the provincial parks.
