The next few days for the Kindersley Red Lions will be the most important hockey of their season.

Kindersley is on the brink of elimination after last night's 9-4 home defeat to the Wilkie Outlaws in their SWHL semifinals series. The Outlaws now hold a 2-0 series lead after Brett Harrison (2 goals, 1 assist) and Brock Harrison (1 goal, 3 assists) led the way in game two.

Despite outshooting the Outlaws 44-37, Kindersley managed only four goals in the game from Byron Ismond, Jesse Ismond, Jessey Pocock, and Adam Bowden.

With the Wilkie Outlaws one win away from booking their spot in the finals once again, the Red Lions will look to keep their hopes alive with the teams shipping back to Wilkie for game 3. The game has yet to be announced.

As the Red Lions continue their trek towards glory in their league playoffs, they also have an important quaterfinals series to prepare for in their provincials match-up against the Wacaw Lakers of the Fort Carlton Hockey League.

The Lakers currently hold a 1-0 series lead on the Red Lions after a narrow 4-3 victory on Tuesday evening in Wacaw. Kindersley has to win the rest of the games in this series to continue in the senior 'A' provincials.

Despite facing elimination in the series, there is good news for the Red Lions; they hold home ice advantage for the rest of this 3 game series. The reasoning behind the abnormally structured schedule was due to a scheduling conflict, with the first game moved to Wacaw and the last two in Kindersley.

Red Lions head coach Curtis Graham treats every game with the same respect during the playoffs. But, him and his players know it is a treat when they get to play crucial games in front of the home fans. "The Red Lions have good support, especially in the playoffs when lots of fans show up," said Graham. "It's definitely a boost to the morale and energy when you get a loud cheer or the horn goes off."

The team will be looking for the fans to pack the stands and cheer them on during these important home playoff games. Game 2 against the Lakers is set for 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 25th at the Co-op Arena at West Central Events Centre. If necessary, game 3 will be at the same venue on Sunday, February 26th at 7:00 PM.
