Each year, the eleventh day of the eleventh month is not only a day of reflection and remembrance; it is a day to be thankful for the countless men and women who gave their lives for their nation and its people.

Kindersley residents will take a moment to remember those brave souls over the next couple days with events planned around the community.

The Remembrance Day ceremonies begin today at the three Sun West School Division schools due to Friday being a day off for staff and students.

Westberry Elementary School and Elizabeth Middle School will hold their Remembrance Day ceremonies at 10:45 AM in their respective schools. Each grade will be participating in different activities to coincide with the day as well. The grade five students are even preparing to sign 'O Canada' during the singing of the national anthem.

Kindersley Composite School will hold their assembly at 2:00 PM for Remembrance Day. Presentations at the schools will feature brief speeches, moments of silence and reflection, and appearances from legion members. Legion member Scott Holloway is confident the ceremonies at the schools will truly engage the students. "The teachers do a good job at putting these events together," said Holloway.

On November 11th, the main Remembrance Day service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend and are asked to arrive 15 minutes early so guests are seated before the ceremony begins. The service is overseen by the Legion with help from the church and community including members of the Kindersley Composite School Band providing the music for 'O Canada' and 'God Save The Queen'.

A luncheon at the Kindersley Legion will follow the service at the church as well. The public are invited to take part in the lunch.

Residents of Caleb Village and The Manor will hold their own small services as well for Remembrance Day. The service for Caleb Village begins at 1:30 PM and for The Manor at 2:30 PM.
