Ruthilda held their annual sports day on Saturday, July 9. The day included a slo-pitch tournament, bunnock tournament, live music and supper.

Donald Nakonechny, one of the organizers for the day, spoke to West Central Online, "It was a beautiful day, best day you could have for a sports day. We a full slate of ball teams and everything went real well. We had people playing bunnock as well. People really enjoyed that, it's not you can play everywhere."

Nakonechny said it was a pretty laid back day, and the tournaments were more fun than competition, "It's kind of a fun there, we don't charge an entry fee anymore, so everyone played a lot of ball and we did a round robin."

Nakonechny mentioned the bunnock tournament was more for people just to try it out, "Everybody who wanted to play, were able to have a crack at it. It's something we might try to expand next year and do something a little more formal and set up a full blown tournament."

Live entertainment included local musicians, Nakonechny described it as a 'jam session'.
