A massive power outage was noted in Kindersley and surrounding areas on Tuesday.

Scott McGregor with SaskPower Media Relations explains what happened.

“The outage that affected Kindersley and surrounding rural areas was caused by a buildup of frost on a section of line. There was a smaller outage that was caused by a tree on the line, but the widespread outage that that most people experienced was due to a frost buildup.”

McGregor then talks about what happens when an outage like this one is reported to them.

“With any sort of buildup on the lines be it frost or ice or anything that, there's always a chance of an outage. But, whenever an issue gets reported to us, we get crews out to take care of it as soon as we can.”

The power was restored in the Kindersley area just after 2:00 pm, and a little while later in surrounding rural communities.
