The New Year's weekend is kicking off with many exciting sports events around the area.

Today is the last day of the Rosetown Sturling Bonspiel, which kicked off on Dec 21st.

The event is held today down at the Rosetown Curling Rink.  


In the Sask West Hockey League, the Kindersley Red Lions are set to take on the Kerrobert Tigers at the West Central Events Centre tonight at 8pm.

The Red Lions and the Tigers haven't played a game together since Dec 19, where the Lions won 14-5.

The Unity Miners are hosting the Macklin Mohawks tonight at the Unity Community Centre.

The Miners currently hold a record of  5-4   while the Mohawks hold a record of 6-6.

The puck drops at 8pm.

The Biggar Nationals are also set to host the first in the league Wilkie Outlaws at the Biggar Jubilee Stadium tonight at 7:30pm.

The Nationals are defending a record of 7-4.


The Kindersley Red Lions then hit the ice on Sunday when they head to Unity to take on the Wilkie Outlaws.

Sitting at second in the league, the Red Lions are ready to take on the first place Outlaws.

Puck drop is at 4:45 PM at the Unity Community Centre.

In the Sask Valley Hockey League, The Loreburn 19ers are hosting the Elrose Aces tonight at the Loreburn rink.

The puck drops at 8pm.

The Aces currently hold a record of 3-7.
