Shirley Brown, President of the Elrose Legion got an email about the donation drive being put together, and she knew she had to help. Brown has put together a donation box at her workplace in Elrose to gather items in need and ship them off to provincial headquarters. From the provincial headquarters location, items will be distributed on a need basis. Brown noted that this drive is to help all veterans.

Brown also talks about the stigma that their aren't any homeless people in West Central Saskatchewan.

Rossel Marion is a provincial service officer with the Royal Canadian Legion. Marion says the goal of the drive is to help provide basic and essential items to those in need.

Marion says approximately 10% of the homeless population are veterans, and the problem is getting worse with many young veterans coming home and struggling after missions abroad.

People are encouraged to drop off their donations at any of the 171 Legion locations across the province, The Lighthouse in Saskatoon and The Carmichael Outreach in Regina.
